Solid waste

This law focuses on the idea of a circular flow economy with closed loop supply chains and is the main legal basis for closing material supply loops in Germany. It is the ground for the goal to save natural resources and to provide environmentally acceptable waste disposal.


End of Life Vehicles Directive - Directive 2000/53/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, from 18 September 2000 (ELV)



Provides the limitation of waste from vehicles and enhances the reuse, recycling and other forms of recovery of end-of-life vehicles and their components. The law sets new requirements for European manufacturers regarding the obligation to draw vehicles easier to recycle.


Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive - Directive 2002/95/EC (RoHS)


Electrical and electronic equipment

About the restrictions on the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment in order to contribute to the protection of human health and the environmentally sound recovery and disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment.

Electrical and electronic equipment

Establishes measures to prevent the generation of electrical and electronic waste and to promote reuse, recycling and other forms of recovery in order to reduce the amount of waste to improve the environmental performance of all stakeholders involved in the life cycle of electrical and electronic equipment.


Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG)


Establishes the collection and recycling of electrical and electronic equipment in Germany.

Solid waste

Includes principles and guidelines for the management of solid waste. Among other provisions, the PNRS establishes the principle of shared responsibility for the lifecycle of products and has as one of its key points the reverse logistics.
